Owners Juan Riu Masmitjá and his wife María Bertrán Espigulé bought the San Francisco Hotel in Spain with their son Luis Riu Bertrán. This began the global RIU hotel chain, a family company with over 70 years of experience. Today, the hotel brand manages nearly 100 hotels in 21 countries worldwide.
